HATHAWAY, ‘a mother daughter project’, is a beautiful story of a creative collaboration between a mother and her two daughters.
About Hathaway
HATHAWAY is a mother–daughters collaboration, born from a shared love of style, nature, and craft.
The story begins with Lyn Hathaway, a botanical artist whose paintings capture the delicate detail and wonder of the natural world. Lyn paints purely for the joy of it — from individual botanical studies to bold, expressive oils — and there is something special in that. Some of the artworks featured in the scarf designs were painted years ago, yet their vitality and charm remain timeless.
Her daughter, Sera, a London-based designer, translates each artwork into unique patterns and scarf designs, sometimes blending pieces together to create something entirely new. Sera’s sister, Louise — tech expert and creative spirit (currently training to become a vet nurse) — supports the design process, listens to the business’s creative musings, and manages the website.
Every scarf is crafted in very limited runs by family-run ateliers in Italy and England, using only the finest silks and natural fabrics. Some samples are even made locally in SW19, reflecting a commitment to supporting artisans close to home. Future collections will include plant-based textiles.
After extensive visits to printing houses and silk artisans, Hathaway scarves are now produced in a small, family-run atelier in Como, Italy. Established in 1960 by an entrepreneurial young man and now run by his two children, the atelier is committed to sustainability, operates on solar power, and shares a passion for preserving artisanal craft — a perfect synergy with Hathaway’s values.

“From a young I have created, it was never just a hobby for me—it was a way of communicating. I speak through my creations, using them to uplift others and bring joy into their lives. Handmade gifts for friends and family became my way of expressing love and care, an unspoken language that resonated with me far more than words.
From handmade trinkets to thoughtful garments, each item was a reflection of my desire to connect and make someone feel special - That same spirit lives on in every HATHAWAY scarf, woven with the same intention: to carry love, beauty, and meaning.
After completing a degree in Fashion and Design and working in various clothing boutiques, I went on to spend 10 years owning and running a designer retail boutique — what a ride at such a young age! After selling the boutique and stepping away from retail, I felt called to create something that aligned more deeply with my purpose. Through years of listening to my customers, and reflecting on my own relationship with clothing, I came to realise that my love was to create, my purpose was to uplift. I wanted to create something that could be worn by all shapes and sizes, styled in many ways, and carried a sense of connection, story, and meaning — a piece to be cherished for a lifetime. In short, All of this combined led to HATHAWAY.
